Nach bewährtem Muster

Mir ist plötzlich aufgefallen, dass ich ein neues Netbook habe, das etwas größer ist als sein Vorgänger, so dass die alte Hülle nicht mehr passt. Wobei ich zugeben muss, dass "neu" hier sehr relativ ist... ich habe es schon vor zwei Jahren gekauft. Aber jetzt hat es mich doch gestört, dass ich keine Hülle hatte, also habe ich nach bewährtem Zaubertäschchen-Muster eine neue genäht. Natürlich wieder in pink, und diesmal mit Kamsnaps statt mit Klettverschluss.

I suddenly realized that I have a new netbook that is a little bigger in size than the one I had before, so the old cover doesn't fit anymore. I have to admit that new is relative in this case... I bought it two years ago. But it finally bugged me that I didn't have a pretty cover, so I used my tested and tried go-to pattern (I don't have a link to an English tutorial, a German tutorial with pictures can be found here) and whipped one up. In pink, of course, and using Kamsnaps instead of velcro this time. 

Sehr bunt

Die Tasche, die ich als Geschenk genäht habe, habe ich in der Zwischenzeit beendet, und sie ist sehr bunt geworden. Zuerst fand ich sie ein bisschen zu wild, aber mittlerweile gefällt sie mir. Wahrscheinlich musste ich mich erst daran gewöhnen.

I finished the bag I was making as a gift in the meantime, and the result is quite colourful. At first I thought it was a little too wild but now I like it. Maybe I just needed some time to get used to it.

Ein Julklapp-Geschenk

Nachzureichen vom Dezember habe ich noch das Julklapp-Geschenk, das ich zusammen mit meinem Sohn genäht habe. Diesmal sollten die Kleinigkeiten nicht gekauft werden, sondern selbst gemacht sein. Das Geschenk sollte für ein Mädchen sein, und ich hatte sofort ein Täschchen nach der bewährten Sabine-Methode im Kopf. Mein Sohn sollte die Lieblingsfarbe des zu beschenkenden Mädchens herausfinden. Mir schwebten pink und Blümchen vor, da verkündete er, es müsse schwarz sein. Ugh. Er wählte schwarzen Uni-Stoff, und mit hellem Futter und silbernen Blümchen ist uns dann ein recht edles Täschchen gelungen, das sich leider gar nicht gut fotografieren ließ. In natura sah es viel besser aus.

A Secret Santa gift was needed for school in December, and this time it was not supposed to be store-bought. My son drew a girl's name from the hat, and I immediately thought we could make a small bag using Sabine's method. I envisioned something pink and floral but it turned out the girl's favorite color is black. Duh. My son chose a solid black fabric, and with a light lining and silver flowers it turned out very pretty but didn't photograph well. It looked much nicer in reality.

Die neue Kamerahülle

Als erstes Projekt nach dem Urlaub habe ich die neue Hülle für die Kamera genäht. Diese kleinen Täschchen dauern ja nicht lange. Die Öse, die ich anbringen wollte, um die Halteschlaufe der Kamera durchzuziehen, fehlt noch, das darf mein Mann bei Gelegenheit machen. Die Hülle gefällt mir ganz gut, aber die andere fand ich noch ein bißchen schöner. Ich ärgere mich immer noch etwas darüber, dass sie weg ist :(

My first project after our vacation was a new bag for the camera. These little bags don't take long to finish. It is still missing the eyelet I want to pull the camera strap through, this is a task for my husband. The new bag is nice enough but I still like the other one a little better. I am still a little angry with myself that I lost it.

Ein Beutel für die Kabel

In die Netbook-Tasche passt ja nur das Netbook selbst hinein, und das war auch Absicht. Für den Urlaub lässt sich das so besser verstauen und transportieren. Aber die Kabel müssen ja auch verpackt werden, also musste noch ein Beutel her. Er ist groß genug, um auch noch die Ladekabel für die Digitalkameras und das Handy aufzunehmen.

The netbook bag is just big enough to hold the netbook itself but not the cable. I did that on purpose, it is easier for us to pack it and carry it that way during our vacation. But of course the cable has to be packed as well, so I made another bag today. This one is big enough to also hold the cables for the digital cameras and the cell phone.
The pattern is the same one I used for the camera bags, I just omitted the flap. It doesn't look like much yet, it is still missing the braided strings that will close the bag. I didn't have anything suitable in my stash, have to go shopping for it next week.

Vom Prinzip her ist er wieder wie die Kameratäschchen genäht, nur die Lasche habe ich wegrationalisiert. Im Moment sieht er eher aus wie ein Brillenetui, es fehlt noch die Kordel, die oben durchgezogen werden soll. Ich hatte kein passendes Band in meinem Vorrat, das muss ich nächste Woche erst besorgen.

Das zweite Kameratäschchen

Nachdem er meine Kamerahülle gesehen hatte, war mein Sohn ja auch der Meinung, so etwas zu brauchen. Genaue Vorstellungen hatte er nicht, nur blau sollte es sein. Wieder habe ich nach dem bewährten System von Sabine K. genäht. Sabine D., die Quiltbiene, hat dazu im Netz sogar eine Anleitung gefunden. Der Vorteil ist, dass sich Größe und Form beliebig abwandeln und anpassen lassen.

My son saw the protective case I had made for my camera and decided he needed one as well. He didn't care what it looked like as long as it was blue. I used the TNT Sabine K. pattern again. Sabine D. (Quiltbiene) found an online tutorial on how to make this kind of bag. It is only in German but has a few pictures. Once you figure it out you can alter and adapt size and design to fit your needs.


It is so hot in my sewing room that thinking is very difficult right now. I almost made the mistake that Sabine mentioned when she explained how to make the bag. After measuring the circumference of the camera lengthwise and adding extra length for the flap you only need half of the width circumference. That is no surprise, otherwise you would end up with a much bigger bag, but I was already starting to cut the fabric when I realized that. Well, it wouldn't have been too bad, you can always cut off the excess fabric.

Bei der Hitze hätte ich allerdings fast den Fehler begangen, vor dem Sabine mich gleich gewarnt hatte. Wenn man den Umfang der Länge nach ausgemessen hat, inklusive der Zugabe für die Lasche, braucht man in der Breite nur noch den halben Umfang der Kamera, nicht den ganzen. Das ist ja eigentlich auch klar, sonst wird das Teil viel zu groß, aber diesmal ist mir das erst aufgefallen, als ich Rollschneider und Lineal schon in der Hand hatte. Naja, wäre auch nicht so schlimm gewesen, abschneiden kann man ja immer :)

Eine zuckersüße Netbook-Tasche

Meine neueste Errungenschaft ist dieses Netbook - ist das nicht niedlich? Ich habe es extra auf den Laptop gestellt, damit man auf dem Bild überhaupt sieht, wie klein es ist. Dafür musste natürlich auch eine neue Tasche her.

I recently got this netbook - isn't that cute? I put in on top of the notebook, otherwise it probably wouldn't be obvious in the picture how small it is. Of course it also needed a protective case.

I used Sabine's camera case pattern again and adjusted the measurements. It had been my intention to use pink and floral fabrics for the camera case but then I remembered that my husband would probably want to use the camera as well so I finally settled for a neutral version.

Nach dem bewährten Prinzip von Sabines Kamerahülle habe ich eine Tasche genäht und mich dabei mit Pink ausgetobt. Schon bei der Kameratasche hatte ich pinkfarbenen Stoff und Blümchen in der Hand, aber dann fiel mir ein, dass mein Mann die Kamera vielleicht auch mal mitnehmen möchte, so dass die Hülle dann doch etwas neutraler ausfiel.

Aber das Netbook ist meins, und mit Pink und Blümchen bleibt es das dann hoffentlich auch :) Diesmal habe ich gequiltet, das Garn ist von Anke gefärbt, und ich konnte meine Maschine überreden, es ohne Zicken zu verarbeiten. Die kleinen Knöpfe sind aus Wahlsdorf, es ist doch immer wieder erstaunlich, wie sich für alles eine Verwendung findet.

But the netbook is mine, and with a pink case with flower buttons it will hopefully stay mine :) I did a little quilting on this case, using thread that Anke had dyed, and I could convince my machine to accept it without problems. I bought the flower and leaf buttons in Wahlsdorf last year, I am always surprised that there seems to come a time when everything will be put to good use.

Eine Hülle für die neue Kamera

Für die neue Digitalkamera musste unbedingt noch eine Hülle her. Sabine hat mir beim Färbefest erklärt, wie sie ihre genäht hat, und das habe ich gleich ausprobiert. Es ging relativ schnell und unkompliziert, allerdings war dann plötzlich - obwohl ich es vorher probeweise genäht hatte - die Naht an der Wendeöffnung falsch herum. Das ließ sich jedoch schnell beheben.

The new camera needed some kind of protective case. When we met to dye fabrics, Sabine explained how she had made hers, and I went home and tried it right away. It was fast and easy, I just ended up with one seam facing the wrong direction although I had tried it before I started the project and was convinced I knew what I was doing. Anyway, it was not trouble to fix that.

My camera is not as flat as Sabine's and I thought the corners of the flap were sticking out too much, so I turned it inside-out again and cut off the edges diagonally. I found a matching button in my stash to put onto the flap. My son likes the case so much that he ordered one for his camera right away.

Da meine Kamera nicht ganz so flach ist wie Sabines, standen die Ecken der Lasche für meinen Geschmack zu sehr ab, also habe ich alles noch einmal gewendet und die Lasche angeschrägt. Ein passender Knopf zur Dekoration fand sich dann auch noch in meinem Vorrat. Und mein Sohn hat sich für seine Kamera auch gleich so eine Hülle bestellt. Zum Glück weiß ich ja jetzt, wie es geht.

Die fertige Tasche

Gerade eben habe ich den Knopf angenäht, jetzt ist die Tasche offiziell fertig. Am Schnitt selbst habe ich nichts verändert, lediglich ein paar Details sind anders. Die Griffe habe ich gekauft und nicht aus Stoff selbst gemacht, allerdings musste ich die kleinen Schlaufen für die Befestigung herstellen, das ging sicher auch nicht schneller. Mir haben bloß die Griffe gut gefallen.

I just sewed on the button, now the bag is officially finished. I didn't alter the pattern, just a few details. I bought the handles instead of making them myself out of fabric. But I did have to make the little fabric loops to attach the handles, so this probably didn't go any faster. I just liked the handles very much.

The bag is open at the top and closes with a snap-fastener in the middle. This is not a good idea in a city like Berlin. The bag contains a small inner pocket which closes with velcro. I omitted the velcro, used a zipper instead and added the pocket more towards the bottom of the bag, so I hope my money will be safe in there. And I even thought of adding a bias strip with a snap hook so I won't have to hunt down my keys in the big bag.

Die Tasche ist oben offen und wird nur durch die Lasche in der Mitte mit einem Druckknopf verschlossen. Wenn man in Berlin unterwegs ist, ist das keine gute Idee, zumal die Innentasche auch nur mit ein bißchen Klettband verschlossen werden sollte. Also habe ich in die Innentasche einen Reißverschluss eingenäht und sie auch weiter unten in der Tasche befestigt, so dass mein Portemonnaie einigermaßen sicher sein dürfte. Und ich habe tatsächlich auch daran gedacht, ein Band mit einem Karabinerhaken einzunähen, so dass die Schlüsselsucherei nun hoffentlich ein Ende hat.

An beiden Seiten im oberen Bereich, aber unterhalb des Bundes, wo der Seitenstreifen endet, soll die Tasche mit ein bißchen Klettband zusammengehalten werden. Das habe ich bei meiner letzten Tasche so gemacht, und es ist nicht die optimale Lösung. Das Klettband hält auch nicht ewig, es zieht Fusseln wunderbar an, und man bleibt doch gern irgendwo hängen. In Wahlsdorf hatten wir überlegt, ob man das Klettband vielleicht durch Druckknöpfe ersetzen könnte. Das habe ich probiert, aber das sah nicht schön aus. Letztendlich habe ich an den Stellen einfach 2 cm knappkantig zusammengesteppt. Die Tasche geht immer noch weit genug auf, und es sieht besser aus als mit Klett oder Druckknöpfen.

At both sides in the upper area, below the top band the instructions asked for two patches of velcro. I did it this way with my last bag but wasn't completely satisfied with it. Velcro doesn't last forever, lint and dirt get attached to it, and I tend to get it stuck on my clothes. Last weekend at Wahlsdorf we considered using snap-fasteners instead of the velcro. I tried that, but I didn't like the look. I finally stitched the sides together for about 1". I can still open the bag wide enough, and I like the look much better than with velcro or snap-fasteners.

Projekt für den Feiertag

In Blossin hat Renate ein Tasche genäht, die allgemein großen Anklang fand. Leider habe ich nur ein Bild davon, und das ist nicht besonders gut, es wird der Tasche wirklich nicht gerecht.

At the Blossin retreat Renat made a bag that we all liked very much. Unfortunately I only took one picture which is not very good, the bag looks much nicer in reality.

Last weekend in Wahlsdorf I found a fabric I absolutely had to buy. Tomorrow is a holiday in Germany, and I will try to turn that fabric into a bag then. I bought the other things I need for that project today. Since I will probably change a few things about the bag I am not sure yet if I will have enough time to finish it tomorrow.

Am letzten Wochenende in Wahlsdorf musste ich dann einen Stoff mitnehmen, auf dem mein Name stand :) Den will ich morgen zu einer Tasche verarbeiten. Die weiteren Zutaten habe ich heute besorgt. Ein paar Änderungen zu Renates Modell will ich vornehmen, mal sehen, wie weit ich komme.

Wahlsdorf-Täschchen überarbeitet

Die beiden Täschchen, die ich in Wahlsdorf genäht habe, habe ich noch ein wenig überarbeitet. Ich fand sie ungequiltet ein bißchen lappig, und außerdem schlug das Futter innen Falten, das hat mir nicht gefallen. Also habe ich die Seitennähte wieder aufgetrennt, ein bißchen gequiltet und alles wieder zusammengenäht. Jetzt bin ich zufrieden.

I wasn't completely satisfied with the small purses I made in Wahlsdorf. They were a little too soft for my taste, and I didn't like the wrinkles in the lining. So I undid the side seams, quilted everything and stitched the seams closed again. Now I really like them.

Zicken-Wochenende in Wahlsdorf

Dieses Wochenende war wieder Treffen der Zick-Zack-Zicken in Wahlsdorf. Diesmal habe ich die Zeit genutzt und lauter Kleinigkeiten genäht, zu denen ich sonst nicht komme.

This weekend we had another Zick-Zack-Zicken retreat in Wahlsdorf. I made a few of those little things that I never get around to actually sew.

Anke brought the small purse she presented a couple of weeks ago in her blog. It spread like a virus, and this is Sunday afternoon's presentation of all the purses we made this weekend.

Anke hatte dieses Täschchen bereits in ihrem Blog präsentiert, und in Wahlsdorf griff das Virus um sich. Am Sonntag kurz vor Schluss konnten wir diese Ausbeute präsentieren.

Sabine und ich haben spontan ein Schlüsseltäschchen genäht. Als Inspiration diente das von Anke, den Schnitt haben wir uns selbst gebastelt und ein paar kleine Änderungen vorgenommen. Hier kommt das Ergebnis.

Sabine and I decided on the spur of the moment to make a little purse to hold our keys. We used Anke's for inspiration, drew the pattern ourselves and made a few alterations. This is what it looks like.

This mouse filled with spelt has been on my project list for quite some time. I even bought the spelt last year but never got the sewing done. This was the first project I tackled in Wahlsdorf, and it didn't even take me long to make it. I put it into the microwave right away last night after I got home and then onto my tense shoulders.

Eine Dinkelmaus wollte ich schon ewig nähen, der Dinkel lag auch schon lange herum, nur zum Nähen bin ich nie gekommen. In Wahlsdorf habe ich mich jetzt aufgerafft, und siehe da, es ging ganz schnell. Gestern abend kam sie auch gleich in die Mikrowelle und dann auf meine verspannten Schultern.

Tasche mit Lasche

In Wahlsdorf habe ich angefangen, mir eine neue Tasche zu nähen. Jetzt ist sie fertig, passend zu meiner neuen Leidenschaft für pink. Das Multicolor-Garn, das ich zum Quilten genommen habe , hat Anke mir geschenkt hat.
