Nicht weit von Denver entfernt liegt der Mount Evans, ein 4.300 m hoher Berg, auf den man bis kurz unter dem Gipfel mit dem Auto fahren kann, jedenfalls von Juni bis August. Auch dieser Berg gehört zu unserem Standardprogramm, es ist zwar auch im Sommer kalt und windig dort oben, aber die Ruhe, der Ausblick und die Tiere und Blumen lohnen die Fahrt immer wieder.
Not far from Denver is Mount Evans, a 14.200 ft mountain with a paved road up to almost the summit. This road is only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and we drive up there every chance we get. Even in August it is cold and windy up there, but the silence, the view and the animals and flowers are really worth the drive up.
Afterwards we visited the State Capitol in Downtown Denver. We couldn't climb the dome this year but we found an even better view later on.
Im Anschluss daran ging es nach Downtown zum State Capitol. Die Kuppel konnten wir in diesem Jahr leider nicht besteigen, aber wir fanden noch eine bessere Aussicht in der Stadt.
Das Denver Museum of Nature and Science hat eine Aussichtsterrasse, von der aus man einen hervorragenden Blick über die Stadt hat. Und auch für alle Dinosaurier- und Weltraumliebhaber ist das Museum empfehlenswert, unser Sohn hat jede Menge Spaß gehabt.
The Denver Museum of Nature and Science has a sky terrace with truly the greatest view in the city and also very nice exhibitions for all dinosaur lovers and those interested in space. Our son had a great time there.
