Und wieder Stoffmarkt

Heute war wieder Holländischer Stoffmarkt in Potsdam. Das Wetter meinte es gut mit uns, es war so warm, dass der schönste Teil das Sitzen im Café unter dem Sonnenschirm war. Stoff brauchte ich sowieso nicht wirklich, von den fünf Stoffen, die ich im März gekauft habe, sind vier noch nicht verarbeitet. Also habe ich gekauft, was ich wirklich brauchte, nämlich Klebespray und ein Patchworklineal.

And once again it was fabric market day in Potsdam. The weather was very nice, almost too nice, it was so warm that the most enjoyable part was sitting in the shade after shopping sipping a cold drink. The good thing was that I didn't really need any fabric, I still didn't touch four of the five fabrics that I bought back in March. I did need a can of basting spray and a patchwork ruler though.

And I had decided that in addition to the coat I made last year I needed another one in a darker color. Black doesn't suit me so I kept looking for a darker shade of blue. I found one I like and already have a pattern in mind, but I will definitely not start working on this project in the near future.

Außerdem habe ich beschlossen, dass ich neben dem hellen Mantel, den ich letztes Jahr genäht habe, auch einen dunklen brauche. Schwarz ist ja nicht meine Farbe, dafür bin ich zu blass, also sollte es dunkelblau werden. Tatsächlich habe ich auch einen geeigneten Stoff gefunden. Einen Schnitt habe ich auch schon im Hinterkopf, aber in naher Zukunft werde ich mich damit nicht beschäftigen.

Dann habe ich noch einen Spontankauf getätigt, ein Schnäppchen, auf dem mein Name stand, der musste einfach mit. Ich finde, der sieht sehr nach Etui-Kleid aus.

I only made one impulse purchase which was a very good deal. Exactly my kind of fabric, looks like a sheath dress to me.

There were a lot of fabrics that I already knew from last year. They still had the two pink fabrics which I bought for the Ottobre dress and coat. These were also available in other colors which made me wonder if I maybe needed another dress in blue. While I was standing there a lady suggested the fabric that I used for my dress to her friend who was appalled. She said she couldn't possibly wear that as she didn't want to look like the Queen. Excuse me... the Queen??? I think I will stick with Berry's opinion and pretend that my dress and coat look like something Jackie Kennedy might wear :)

Noch eine Anekdote am Rande: Es waren viele Stoffe im Angebot, die ich schon vom letzten Jahr kannte. Auch die beiden in pink, aus denen ich das Ottobre-Set genäht habe, gab es noch, auch in anderen Farben wie blau und orange. Eine Frau schlug ihrer Freundin den Stoff, aus dem mein Kleid ist, vor, diese lehnte entsetzt ab. Das könne sie nicht anziehen, sie wolle doch nicht aussehen wie die Queen. Äh... die Queen??? Ich habe beschlossen, ich halte es mit Berry und bilde mir weiter ein, Kleid und Mantel hätten was von Jackie Kennedy :)
