Needle Organizer

Als Sabine im letzten Jahr ihren Needle Organizer genäht hat, wusste ich sofort, dass ich so ein Teil auch gut gebrauchen kann. Bei mir liegen immer mehrere Nadeln in der Gegend herum, die schon benutzt sind, also nicht mehr in die Packung sollen, aber die noch zu gut sind, um sie wegzuwerfen. Und wenn ich dann auf der Suche nach einer bestimmten Nadel bin, sind sie alle durcheinander und ohne Lupe nicht mehr zu identifizieren.

Sabine made a Needle Organizer last year, and when I saw the picture I knew right away I would put a thing like that to good use. I always have several needles lying around that I don't want to put back in the package but that are still too good to be thrown out. And whenever I am looking for a certain kind, there is a big mess and I can't identify them without a magnifying glass.

Sabine printed the labels for me, and I had to come up with an idea how I wanted my Needle Organizer to look. Hers is a wall hanging, and I knew I would never use it if I had to stand up every time I wanted to put a needle away.

Sabine hat mir netterweise die ausgedruckten Labels geschickt, und ich musste mir nur noch Gedanken machen, wie mein Organizer aussehen soll. Einen Wandbehang fand ich eher unpraktisch, wenn ich erst aufstehen muss, um die Nadel wegzusortieren, werfe ich sie vermutlich doch wieder nur in der Gegend herum.

Also habe ich am letzten Wochenende eine Nadelmappe genäht, die immer an der Nähmaschine liegen kann, und hoffe, dass ich so endlich Ordnung in das Nadelchaos bringen werde.

I decided to make a booklet that I could keep around the sewing machine. Maybe this way I will finally conquer the needle chaos.

BTW, the fabrics for the Sentimental Journey BOM haven't arrived yet - they are at the customs office here in Berlin. People are very rude there and treat you like a criminal if you go there to pick up a package. So I decided to do what I did two years ago and sent them a fax asking the postal service to do the customs declaration for me. This way I won't have to deal with them directly. Unfortunately it will take two to three more weeks until I will finally get the package.

Die Stoffe für den Sentimental Journey BOM sind übrigens immer noch nicht eingetroffen - die hat der Zoll hier in Berlin. Mit diesen Herrschaften stehe ich ja seit einigen Jahren etwas auf Kriegsfuß, da man dort unfreundlich und unverschämt und als potentieller Schmuggler behandelt wird, wenn man versucht, dort ein Päckchen abzuholen. Also habe ich es wie vor zwei Jahren gemacht und per Fax Postverzollung beantragt. Das schont die Nerven, dauert aber leider noch zwei bis drei Wochen, bis ich das Päckchen endlich habe.
