Bighorn Quilts

Mitten im Bighorn Basin, etwas eine Stunde Autofahrt vom nächsten größeren Ort entfernt, befindet sich in dem Ort Greybull einer meiner Lieblings-Online-Shops, Bighorn Quilts. Natürlich musste ich dort hin, wo wir doch schon mal in der Gegend waren.

Greybull in the middle of the Bighorn Basin is a small town with a big quilt shop, Bighorn Quilts, one of my favorite online shops.

The directions on their website ("three doors east of the stoplight") couldn't be better, Greybull is very small with just one stoplight. But the shop is really worth the visit. In two huge rooms it offers everything a quilter might need, books, fabrics, notions...

Der Ort Greybull ist sehr klein, die Anfahrtsbeschreibung zum Shop auf der Website ("drei Türen östlich der Ampel") sagt eigentlich schon alles. Es gibt nur die eine Ampel. Dafür ist der Laden umso größer. Zwei riesige Räume voller Bücher, Stoffe und Zubehör bieten alles, was das Quilterherz begehrt.

Allerdings ist es einfacher, online den passenden Stoff zu finden als direkt im Laden. Die Stoffe sind nach Herstellern sortiert und bekommen dann laufende Nummern. Das macht die Sache zwar übersichtlich, wenn man die Bestellnummer weiß, aber es ist nichts nach Farben sortiert, und das Angebot ist so überwältigend, dass man vermutlich die Hälfte übersieht.

It is much easier to find a certain fabric online than in the shop. The fabrics are sorted by manufacturer and are numbered in the order of their arrival so there is no order according to colors or themes. So if you know the number you can easily find your fabric but if you want to check all fabrics of a certain color it becomes difficult to find everything.
But the shop is prepared for that. They offer a computer where customers can search the online shop. You can write down the numbers of the fabrics you are interested in and go look for them in the right aisle. It really is a great shop to visit, if you ever get to the area, don't miss it.

Aber auch dafür fand sich eine Lösung. Der Shop hat einen Computer, an dem die Kunden den Online-Shop durchsuchen können. Und wenn man erstmal die richtige Artikelnummer gefunden hat, ist der Rest auch kein Problem mehr. Es war auf jeden Fall ein Erlebnis, wer in der Gegend ist, sollte sich Bighorn Quilts nicht entgehen lassen.
