Berlin soll ja die größte türkische Stadt außerhalb der Türkei sein. Und der türkische Wochenmarkt am Maybachufer in Neukölln, der zweimal wöchentlich (dienstags und freitags ab 11 Uhr) stattfindet, ist in jedem Fall einen Besuch wert.
Berlin is supposed to be the biggest Turkish city outside Turkey. And the Turkish market that takes place twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays, starting at 11 am) in Neukölln (Maybachufer) is really worth a visit.
With my Zick-Zack-Zicken I go there every year on the Friday after Ascension Day (which is a holiday in Germany). Together we join the crowd browsing the fabrics, beads, spices, baked goods, plants, fruit and vegetables and lots of tasty specialty foods.
Wir Zick-Zack-Zicken gehen jedes Jahr am Freitag nach Himmelfahrt dorthin und stürzen uns gemeinsam ins Gewühl. Stoffe, Perlen, Gewürze, Backwaren, Pflanzen, Obst und Gemüse, jede Menge Spezialitäten, kurz, was das Herz begehrt, findet man dort.
Neben jeder Menge Perlen, zwei Halstüchern und natürlich auch einer Menge Köstlichkeiten habe ich einen tollen (und günstigen) weißen Baumwollstoff zum Färben gefunden. Den gleichen Stoff in einem Beigeton habe ich dann noch für eine Bluse mitgenommen.
I bought lots of beads and sequins, two scarves, lots of food and I also found a very good deal on a white cotton fabric suitable for hand-dying. And I bought the same fabric in a shade of ecru, I would like to make a blouse from that.
