Challenge: Der Natur auf der Spur

9. Sternetreffen-Ost in Blossin

Am Wochenende war wieder Sternetreffen-Ost. Zum 9. Mal haben wir uns getroffen, wie im letzten Jahr auch diesmal wieder in Blossin. Von Freitag bis Sonntag haben wir viel genäht und viel gelacht, Ideen ausgetauscht und Frühchenquilts eingesammelt, es gab Show & Tell und ein Challenge und wie immer jede Menge Spaß.

Last weekend was the annual retreat of our regional quilt group. For the ninth year in a row we met to sew and laugh together, again in Blossin which is not very far from Berlin. We had a challenge and show & tell and lots of fun.

Here are a few random pictures, I will post more photos of the challenge quilts, show & tell and the preterm baby quilts we donated in the next few days when I have time.

Heute zeige ich bunt zusammengewürfelte Impressionen. Bilder vom Challenge, Show & Tell und den Frühchenquilts poste ich in den nächsten Tagen, wie es die Zeit erlaubt.

Diese traditionellen Blöcke haben wir für Antje genäht, die die Organisationsarbeit für das Treffen übernommen hatte. Im letzten Jahr hatte das Vera gemacht, die von uns dafür Blöcke mit Schmetterlingen erhalten hatte. Einen Teil davon hat sie schon zu einem Quilt verarbeitet und uns in diesem Jahr vorgeführt.

We made these traditional blocks for Antje who volunteered to organize the retreat. Last year's retreat was organized by Vera, and she received butterfly blocks as a thank you. She turned a few of them into a quilt which she showed us this year.

Nummer Drei und ein Nachzügler

So, der dritte und letzte Quilt ist auch noch rechtzeitig fertig geworden. Und ich habe noch einen Nachzügler vom letzten Herbst gefunden. Da hatte ich ja vier Tops fertig und diese auch alle zu Quilts verarbeitet. Drei habe ich gezeigt, diesen irgendwie vergessen. Und dabei ist er der schönste, zuckersüß :)

I finished the third and last quilt this week. And I found another one that I finished last fall. I had four finished tops back then and turned them all into quilts. Three were posted here, somehow I forgot to show the last one. And it is even my favorite, very sweet.

Nummer Zwei

... ist auch fertig, ich habe die Randeinfassung gestern abend noch umgenäht.

I finished #2 last night, sewing the binding on by hand.

Stoffmarktbeute

Heute war wieder Holländischer Stoffmarkt in Potsdam, und nachdem wir den letzten im November schon verpasst haben, weil wir an dem Wochenende in Wahlsdorf waren, sind wir heute natürlich gegangen. Das einzige, wonach ich wirklich gesucht habe, war ein neutraler Stoff für eine Bluse. Der ließ sich natürlich schlecht fotografieren, er ist dezent gestreift und cremefarben.

Today was Dutch Fabric Market day in Potsdam. We missed the last one in November because we spent that weekend in Wahlsdorf, so of course we had to go there today. I didn't really need any fabric, the only thing I was looking for was a neutral one for a blouse. I found this cream-colored one with a small stripe. It looks much better than in the picture.

And since I wasn't looking for anything specific I found a lot. As I love pink I had to buy some of that color, and the blue burn-out print was love at first sight. I wasn't so sure about the floral print, purple is not my color, but I really like the floral, and the purple is very soft and pastel... so I bought it anyway. It was the end of the bolt, so I ended up with more than I actually wanted for a great prize... no idea what I will do with almost four yards of that.

Und wenn man nichts sucht, findet man natürlich jede Menge. Pink musste natürlich dabei sein, und der blaue Ausbrennerstoff hatte es mir sofort angetan. Bei dem Blumenstoff war ich mir nicht so sicher, weil Lilatöne nicht so ganz mein Ding sind, aber er war so schön und so pastellig... also musste er kurz entschlossen mit. Und dann war es auch noch der Rest vom Ballen, so dass ich für einen Super-Sonderpreis fast 3,5 m bekommen habe... mal sehen, was daraus wird.

Nummer Eins

... ist geschafft. Das Binding habe ich an alle drei Quilts heute nachmittag genäht, allerdings habe ich es erst bei einem auch umgeschlagen und mit der Hand festgenäht.

I stitched the binding to all three quilts this afternoon, but only one is completely finished so far. I sew it to the back by hand, and that takes time.

Geheftet und gequiltet

... habe ich alle drei Frühchentops am letzten Wochende, und auch die Streifen für das Binding habe ich schon zugeschnitten. An diesem Wochenende steht nun die Vollendung auf dem Programm, damit sie am nächsten Freitag übergeben werden können.

I basted and quilted all three tops last weekend, and I even cut the binding strips.This weekend I will try to finish them so they will be ready to be donated next Friday.

Stars Fell On Alabama

Das ist der Name des ersten Blocks des Sentimental Journey Quilts, und ich habe ihn gestern abend genäht. Dabei fiel mir dann auch schon auf, dass der cremefarbene Stoff ganz fein gestreift ist, ich also beim Zuschneiden hätte aufpassen müssen, wenn die Streifen alle in die gleiche Richtung zeigen sollen. Glücklicherweise schneide ich Dreiecke immer erst, wenn ich sie brauche. Ich schneide nur Quadrate und schreibe auf, ob sie in zwei oder in vier Dreiecke zerschnitten werden müssen. Es waren also nur die rechteckigen Teile, die ich teilweise neu zuschneiden musste, und das waren nicht so viele, und der Stoff hat zum Glück gereicht. Das hätte mir auch früher auffallen können!

"Stars Fell On Alabama" is the name of the first block of the Sentimental Journey quilt, and I made it last night. I finally realized that my cream fabric has a fine stripe and is directional, so I should have paid attention to that while cutting if I wanted all the stripes to face in the same direction. Luckily I never cut triangles until I really need them, I just cut the squares I need and write down if they are Half-Square-Triangles or Quarter-Square-Triangles. So I only had to recut a few of the rectangle pieces, and I had enough fabric for that. Well, duh, I should have noticed that earlier!

Alles zugeschnitten

... für den Sentimental Journey Quilt habe ich am Sonntag auch noch. Ich hoffe, es stimmt alles so, bei einem Sampler mit zwölf verschiedenen Blöcken war es nicht ganz einfach, den Überblick zu behalten (obwohl ich natürlich ganz akribisch alle Teile auf einer Liste abgehakt habe).

I cut all the pieces for the Sentimental Journey quilt on Sunday. I hope I cut everything correctly. I tried not to lose track but with twelve different blocks that wasn't easy (although I checked every single piece I cut on a list).
